Ray Padgett returns to discuss Bob Dylan’s The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1976 Live Recordings, his role as a respected Dylan scholar, exactly why we are receiving a 39 CD Dylan box set in 2026, comparing the two distinctive legs of the Rolling Thunder Revue Tour and why the 1976 edition has clearly gotten a bad rap, how Dylan’s personal life may have informed his mood and behaviour on this tour, why he surprised his bandmates and fans so much back then, the possible influence that Bruce Springsteen and punk had on Dylan, some of this set’s key and most memorable performances, why the set doesn’t include any footage from this well-documented tour, Ray’s Rolling Thunder ’76 Day by Day zine, other future plans, and much more.
