Ep. #55: Jace Lasek of the Besnard Lakes

Jace Lasek is the co-founder and primary instrumentalist in the mighty Montreal rock band, the Besnard Lakes. Originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, Lasek made his way to Montreal some time ago and now co-owns the state of the art Breakglass recording studio, where he serves as an engineer and producer. Among the many cool records made at Breakglass is the latest and fourth full-length by the Besnard Lakes, Until in Excess, Imperceptible UFO, which was released earlier this year on Jagjaguwar and Outside Music. The band’s current tour brings them to Toronto’s Lee’s Palace on Nov. 29 and here Lasek and I discuss the band’s new album, its connection to Albuquerque, New Mexico, what it’s like to write and sing with his wife Olga Goreas, how drugs work and what they do, the song “Colour Yr Lights In” and more.
