Colin Stetson and Sarah Neufeld are partners in life and some times play music together in bands like Arcade Fire and Bell Orchestre. They also conjure amazing sounds on their own and are remarkable solo artists; Colin’s latest LP, New History Warfare Vol. 3: To See More Light was just shortlisted for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize, while Sarah’s Hero Brother is stellar and out August 20. They’re both performing at the Hillside Festival in Guelph, ON (including a workshop with Lee Ranaldo and Richard Reed Parry) this weekend and SappyFest in Sackville, NB, August 2-4. I spoke to Colin while he was in New York, the day he found out about his second consecutive Polaris nom, and Sarah and I spoke this past Wednesday, while she was in Vermont. Listen close to my chat with Sarah and you might hear Colin fishing in the background. You won’t have to strain to hear songs by each of them though.
